Birdland
Didn't discover this band until they were long gone, but became a fan anyway. It was only as I was going thru the collection this afternoon that I thought I'd check to see what, if anything, I could find on the Net about the group. And that's how I found this site. Great history/profile.
Agree with your thoughts re the LP, though from what I've read elsewhere the repercussions to "RRNigg*r" might have been stronger [and more negative] than you mention.
One other thought: any opinions re Paul Sampson's engineering? The boost to the highs would suggest he's lost quite a bit of hearing in the upper frequencies. Those early tracks are brutal without EQing.
Thanks again for the info.

Re: Birdland
Hey Ron,
Apologies for only now noting your post. We're so busy here that I forget to check in.
I think the production on the first couple of singles was a deliberate nod to a) the Velvets and b) the Mary Chain. All top end, no bass and just the general white noise.
Thanks for your kind words.
D.

No apologies necessary. Thanks for the reply. You may be right re the Velvets influence.
